Highest Praise Family Worship Center History 1700 Bostian Road China Grove NC 28023 (704) 857-6500
Our church was organized in October of 1948 with 48 Charter Members. We were originally known as the Landis Church of God. Rev. S. A. Luke established the church and was the first pastor. The church had been conducting a tent revival and organized a congregation. The congregation worshiped in the Landis Scout Hut throughout the winter and started raising funds to build a church.Property was purchased from Mr. E. F. Coffey at the corner of Chapel and Correll Streets in Landis North Carolina; and the church was completed in 1949. The congregation also built a parsonage across the road for the pastor and his family. Later property was purchased behind the church where a Family Life Center was erected.
After paying off the Landis property, the church was able to secure approximately 30 acres of land on Bostian Road in China Grove North Carolina. The congregation raised the money to pay this property off. The first building to be built on Bostian Road was a picnic shelter with the help of the Vernon Flowers family. Then the new church was built. In September of 2000, we moved into our New Church with a New Name: “Highest Praise Family Worship Center”. Our current facility is a multi-purpose building that will seat over 500 people. We have also added a separate office building in order to have more classroom space in the sanctuary building, and enclosed the original picnic shelter to house our youth and children's departments.
Our pastor, Rev. Wayne Miller and his wife Debbie, came to Highest Praise in October of 2011. They are a couple after God's heart, and a sincere desire to love each member of this flock. If you haven't visited with us in a while, I invite you to "come home" and see what God is doing, as we submit ourselves totally to Him.
